Business Analyst (non IT) - Line Manager

Job Description:

Overview of business area or project:

The candidate will be working in the Analytics and Data Science Compliance Department. The location of work is the Innovation Lab located in Lausanne in the EPFL University Campus. The mission will focus on data sourcing and ingestion in the Big Data lake for various projects. The candidate will be supported and directed by the partner team in Zürich.

Key Responsibilities:

- A challenging role as Data Engineer in a dynamic, international and demanding environment using the latest innovations in predictive analytics and visualization techniques
- The chance to work closely with Data Owners, Business and Big Data Project team to clarify requirements
- You are responsible for data discovery and understanding in source systems, capturing meta data, mapping data elements to business data requirements and do data profiling
- You are engaged in preparing technical connectivity specifications for the development team and implementation of data quality checks
- You serve as data subject matter expert during user acceptance testing and in discussions with IT stakeholders
- You will be part of an open-minded team with a strong team spirit that acts in a versatile, dynamic, and flexible working environment

Overview of the department/team (team size, backgrounds, personalities):

You will be integrated in a team of about 10 people working in different area of Compliance mainly in the field of data analysis, data sourcing, data engineering and visualization. The location is Lausanne with possibility of daily trips to Zürich. You will be part of an open-minded team with a strong team spirit that act in a high-performing and dynamic working environment.

You will be working in partnership with a Data Science team of 70+ people in Zürich and taking part to very challenging and high-impact projects.

Challenges Contractor will be facing in this role:

The projects the contractor will take part to are very important for the success of the compliance department and the bank. Therefore, the contractor will have high visibility at senior management level.

Essentials Skills and Qualifications:

- A Bachelor or Master degree in Information Technology
- Technology background in Databases
- Ability to write sophisticated SQL queries
- Strong data analytical skills and 1-2 years of experience with data analytical tools
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Fluency in English is mandatory
- Your high-level of confidentiality, integrity and responsibility enable you to deal with critical and confidential data

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

- Experience with Data Warehouse and Big Data technologies is a plus
- German or French optional (written and spoken)
- Knowledge of Agile tools such as JIRA and Confluence
