Business Analyst Job

BUSINESS ANALYST needed for a contract hire opportunity with Yoh's client located in Walnut Creek, CA.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- This position provides support for an assigned portfolio of projects with regard to analysis, tracking of project data, reporting and support functions by project, program and portfolio. Implementing project management best practices relevant to project initiation, project change, schedule and budget control.
- This position will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the appropriate project and program data, models, standards and operating procedures for assigned project(s). This individual will play a significant role within the department as a key contributor to the portfolio governance, accountability, performance tracking and reporting for specific projects and the portfolio overall.
- Promote the concept of project process, cost and resource accountability within initiatives of varying complexity, and initiate action to ensure financial and portfolio management standards
- Implementation of financial planning and analysis and best practices relating to modelling, forecasting, budgeting, cost allocation and performance tracking and reporting that are aligned with program deliverables.
- Responsible for the end to end project budgeting process: annual and quarterly budgeting, bi-monthly and ad hoc re-forecasting
- Assist in the creation of the business case and cost benefit analysis
- Provide software capitalization guidance to project managers
- Maintain and provide weekly financial dashboard for executive review
- Develop, maintain and provide monthly financial review packet, including: headcount utilization, burn rate, trend reports and variance analysis
- Lead reconciliation work between project financials and general ledger reports; resolve discrepancies with Program Managers and ensure adjusting entries are booked and in compliance with SOP 98-1
- Reconciliation of timecards and contractor rates, invoicing support, budget consolidations and rationalization, financial status reporting, financial adjustments, and forecasting analysis

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting required
- Five to ten (5 - 10) years of experience needed
- Understanding of software capitalization rules according to SOP 98-1
- Must have strong inter-personal, inter-departmental, leadership, and organizational skills, be able to multi task, and accept & prioritize job assignments from multiple levels and sources
- Solid account analysis and reconciliation skills
- Understanding of project accounting practices and procedures
- Appreciation and general knowledge of basic project management practices
- Proven communication abilities applied throughout all key levels in the organization, including both verbal and written communications
- Must be driven to produce high-quality results
- Expert knowledge of Excel Working knowledge of PeopleSoft
