This is a permanent role, although our client will consider contract to perm.Overview
Our Client is seeking a Business Analyst for a project work related to Corporate (HR, Finance/Acct, Marketing & Risk, EH can model and redesign processes, workflows and roles in support of business change; and can then translate process and workflow requirements into specifications.
- Understanding of the business objectives and priorities and understand how and where systems and applications impede or enhance business agility - all within the context of business culture.
- Possess a keen understanding of both business and IT language and ability to communicate orally and in writing with clarity, completeness and specificity.
- Ability to develop effective relationships with the business users and maintain these relationships through regular meetings and requirements gathering sessions.
- Possess the ability to understand both business processes and the supporting applications and technology well enough to anticipate and articulate system changes for/to the business user.
- Provide support for information strategy/application management plans.
- Track and help prioritize all requests for application changes or enhancements; ensuring that highest value items are addressed first.
- Ability to conduct a thorough financial or cost-benefit analysis to illustrate the business value of a proposed solution.
- Facilitate successful change management; working with the project team to manage 'people' change throughout the project; ensuring the best possible implementation and maximizing ROI.
- Assist Project Manager in facilitating user acceptance testing before deployment and ensure that the systems meet the business objectives.

Role and Responsibilities
General Responsibilities:

- Provide Single point of contact for all IT-related requests outside of day-to-day desktop services. Provides a high level of availability and personalized service to simplify the engagement model; the business analyst is responsible for navigating internal IT processes on behalf of the business.
- Responsible aligning the needs of business units with the capabilities delivered by IT.
- Responsible for facilitating communication between the business unit and IT, and is able to provide clarity and 'translate' effectively between the different stakeholders.
- Provide Holistic approach to solutioning. With greater understanding of the business objectives, processes, and the supporting applications and technology allow a business analyst to think beyond solving the immediate problem and look for more sustainable and integrated solutions.
- Responsible for the gathering and articulating business requirements related to needs, ensuring clear identification of the problem, associated business process(s), functional requirements, and required outcomes.
- With focus on 'value', provide assessment and evaluation of the problem/needs. Articulate suggested solutions in collaboration with Solutions & Architecture Group and assist with prioritization.
- Anticipate the needs of the business and articulate system as required.
- Provide support to the business in the preparation of Business Cases for approvals of change.
- Ensure effective 'people' change management throughout the course of any project to maximize business value.
- Work within the IT team to maximize its strategic value. Ensure the IT organization is a participant in planning for the needs of the business in the early stages for alignment with existing and planned application architecture, minimizing point solutions and complex integration challenges.

Project Execution:

- Work with Project Manager to ensure effective communications throughout the life of a project.
- Assist Project Manager in monitoring and managing exposure and risk on projects.
- Works with Project Manager to deliver high-quality services to the business unit.
- Supports Project Management best practices and process improvements.

Communication:

- Liaises and communicates with the Business Units in articulating and communicating needs.
- Liaises and communicates with Project Manager and Project team throughout the life of a project.
- Participates in project related team and business unit meetings effectively.
- Accurately prepares written business correspondence that is informative, well organized, coherent, grammatically correct, effective, professional, and engaging.
- Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
- Captures and articulates business requirements in language understood by both the business users and technology vendors/developers.

Analysis and Solution Definition:

- Quickly understands the unique business issues and data challenges of the business unit's organization and industry. Defines current state as basis for definition and validation of solutions that meet business needs, goals or objectives.
- Works with the Solutions & Architecture group to articulate technical requirements for proposed solutions.
- Elicits the needs of the business, prepares analyses and synthesizes information related to functional and technical requirements, specifications, business processes, and recommendations related to proposed solution.

Testing and User Training:

- Works with Project Manager to ensure professional testing and training materials are provided.
- Assists in identifying testing and training requirements and supports all training efforts according to plan.
- Assists Project Manager in ensuring that issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner.
- Works with business unit personnel to identify required application changes.

Problem Solving:

- Works with the business and IT to identify problems and propose solutions.
- Exhibits confidence and an extensive knowledge of emerging industry practices when solving business problems.

Qualifications

Required Skills - Minimum 5 years IT business analyst experience.
- Business Analyst certification is an asset.
- Ability to effectively manage concurrent multiple problems.
- Possesses general understanding in the areas of application programming, database and system design.
- Proven experience in liaising with the business and stakeholders to understand and articulate business structure, policies, work flow, operations and business requirements in achieving their goals.
- Strong communication skills at all organizational levels.
- Strong analysis, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Experience with document management tools such as SharePoint 2007/2010, McLaren Enterprise Engineer, Documentum and of course all of the typical MS Office Apps.
