Business Analyst - Agile, TDD, BDD

Essential Skills and Experience:
Working knowledge of business requirements and analysis methodologies
Strong analytical and product management skills with a thorough understanding of how to interpret user needs into functional and operational requirements
Strong numerical skills
Excellent written and spoken communication skills
Ability to communicate technology solutions in relevant business terms
Extensive stakeholder management experience in a complex Matrix structure, fostering strong relationships with business units, and technology and support teams
Ability to work effectively across Departmental and other boundaries.

Desired Skills and Experience:
Experience of BDD/Test Driven Development
Experience of prioritising using product analytics and qualitative user research data
Hands-on business analysis experience for customer facing web services development projects
Knowledge of web delivery technologies and architectures and experience of tools used to support agile and BDD delivery
Experience of open source and cloud technologies and their sourcing
Experience of working with third party suppliers to deliver iterations fast, ensuring they meet their goals
Good understanding of DWP Change Delivery Guidance
Experience of collaborative working in an agile development environment
Qualification or relevant experience in a related field would be useful such as: BCS Diploma in Business Analysis

The main responsibilities of the post are to:
Capture user needs, mainly through interviews and workshops (but also surveys and document analysis) to create high level business process descriptions/diagrams, and epics and stories in an Agile backlog
Support and advise the Product Owner in agreeing the right mix of features/stories for each sprint, including functional and non-functional requirements
Elaborate stories and define acceptance criteria as part of a Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) approach to software delivery
Support and advise the Product Owner in communicating the benefits of outcomes to gain acceptance/approval
Identify business improvements in information systems and procedures eg predict user and financial benefits and how channel shift will be measured
Analyse and assess new ideas, considering risks, opportunities and impacts arising
Apply business modelling, analysing methods and standards
Create artefacts
Plan releases to support project roadmap
Support Delivery Manager with sprint planning
Work with developers and other experts to set the technical vision and manage any trade-offs between usability, performance and non-functional requirements
Support development and testing, helping resolve any issues, so that each iteration is delivered successfully
