Business Analyst - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

BUSINESS ANALYST

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of this role is to act as a key stakeholder in the delivery of projects and solutions.

The position requires advanced knowledge and experience in the specification of business user requirements, project and change management, testing and the software development life cycle.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Feasibility and Business Case analysis.
- Definition and Management of Business Requirements including traceability between the problem and the solution and any changes to requirements.
- Define complex problems and gain agreement that this is the issue, construct hypotheses based on existing knowledge, experience and consultation, constructively challenge status quo to resolve issues, determine course of action.
- Develop detailed business process, data and System Functional/Non Functional specifications that will drive the desired outcome of business process and system enhancement/development activities.
- Collaboration with project stakeholders, Users, Technology teams, suppliers and vendors to gather, analyse and communicate business requirements.
- Support testing and implementation to ensure quality delivery
- Developing, promoting and implementing corporate-wide methodology for gathering business requirements and test strategies.
- Other duties as requested by Manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

ESSENTIAL:

- Experience in a leading role as an analysis team member in major end to end Business process re engineering or business transformation initiative.
- Ability to identify central ideas and use facts, evidence and details to support main ideas and deliver in logical sequence.
- Proven ability to facilitate business solution workshops involving participants from senior management to business users.
- Able to demonstrate a strong degree of commercial acumen
- Familiarity with software development life cycle. Including proven experience in the development and use of user requirements documentation; user testing strategies and plans related to a typical software development cycle.
- Experience in the development of large, complex business systems and be comfortable with high levels of project complexity and ambiguity.
- The ability to work effectively in a largely autonomous role, within a team environment.
- Demonstrated drive, initiative and resilience.
- Proven experience in project management and the ability to set and achieve priorities.
- The ability to liaise and establish effective working relationships with internal customers and software developers.
- An appropriate tertiary qualification and experience in a business analyst or similar role.

DESIRABLE:

- Knowledge of database systems
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of User Centric design.
- Thomsett BA Essentials qualifications
- Six Sigma Green Belt qualifies or equivalent.
