BUSINESS ANALYST

SKILLS: Business Analyst, Data modelling and process modelling, Big Data (Desired)

SUMMARY:

Our client provides immediate information on sever weather and local forecast for more than 700 affiliates. The Business Analyst will be the primary contact with internal customers within the company and serve as a liaison between the customer and the software development organization. The primary responsibilities include: a) working with customers to gather detailed business requirements and use cases, b) building process models and workflows, and c) assisting customers with system implementations. This individual must be team focused, highly motivated, and results oriented.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Partner with the project management team and technical leads to determine the work products required for the development of systems and implementation of processes
- Lead the analysis, definition, and documentation of work products (business requirements, use cases, process models, data models) that enable the development of new systems and processes
- Plan, schedule, and facilitate sessions to gather business requirements resulting in work products used for software development
- Secure customer buy-in and signoff on business area analysis work products
- Develop an understanding of current-state data sets and processes to help in the definition and implementation of improved data sets and processes
- Analyze, define, and document new data sets and processes
- Solicit suggestions for better and more efficient ways of creating and maintaining products and services at the company
- Provide recommendations for organizational change relative to a department, group, or role based on changes in processes and systems

QUALIFICATIONS:

- BS or BA in Computer Science or related field
- 5+ years' experience working as a Business Analyst
- Experience in data modelling and process modelling
- Experience working with both internal customer groups and IT resources
- Familiarity with software development techniques and methodologies

DESIRED SKILLS:

- Exposure to Big Data and RESTful API development
- Experience in gathering business requirements for Server Side development and data services
- Experience in the media and/or digital industries
- Experience in agile methodologies
