Business Analyst

As part of a finance system implementation project for a recognised London Borough Council, the purpose of the role of Business Analyst is to work as a liaison with key Heads of Finance (and other stakeholders) to elicit, analyse, communicate, validate and document requirements for changes to business and finance processes, policies and information systems as a result of the replacement of the current ERP system. We are looking for someone who has implemented a finance system mainly focusing on GL and Financial Reporting. Industry experience is not that important but business services experience is.

Responsibilities:

* Analyse and break down information gathered from Heads of Finance and process owners to allow complex business flows and rules to be developed into the proper levels for analysis, resolve conflicting information.
* Develop the design artefacts for the new system, e.g. Charts of Accounts design and Interface Design etc.
* Prepare detailed documentation (workflow process diagrams and associated written detail) mapping the current as is" process.
* Working with other members of the project team, understand the "to be" process as envisaged by Subject Matter Experts for revised processes.
* Prepare detailed documentation for the "to be" process (as with "as is" above).
* Collaborate with Heads of Finance and process owners to ensure "to be" process meets business requirements and that the business is able to fully integrate and implement new system and processes.
* Partner with Heads of Finance and process owners to manage any change request requirements to the proposed "to be" process.
* Coordinate the extraction, cleansing, update and upload of relevant historic data to new system.
* Write Reports in the new system to ensure the reporting requirements of the business are met.
* Identify and communicate risks as well as possible mitigating actions

Key Experience/Skills:

* Previous experience of General Ledger (GL) Design
* Chart of accounts & financial
* Reporting and design & implementation experience
* Prior experience of process-mapping essential
* Proven ability to meet deadlines whilst simultaneously working multiple projects
* Experience with analysing and solving problems of a complex nature
* Prior experience of data analysis, especially in SAP environment, using advanced data analysis and cleansing techniques
* Prior experience of working in an ERP replacement programme, desirably involving data cleansing and migration tasks
* Strong analytical skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into operational requirements
* Ability to effectively work with others in a team environment
* Strong knowledge of MS Excel and MS Access
* Experience of Microsoft Office suite of software applications
