Business Analyst

A strategic priority for Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) is to deliver secure energy on the way to a low carbon future. As part of this DECC aims to ensure that the UK has a diverse, safe and secure and affordable energy system and incentivises low carbon investment and deployment. The Commercial Team provides power & utilities and financial markets analysis to the department and acts in an advisory capacity to policy and project teams, providing advice on the commercial implications of policy decisions.

We also maintain close relationships with key stakeholders. This includes regular dialogue with key developers (including being responsible for supporting relations with the main utility companies in the UK under the Strategic Relationship Management initiative sponsored by UKTI ), major commercial banks, and also key investors and fund managers. We use our analysis to inform and influence DECC's and other Government Departments' proposals for policy, regulatory or legislative measures which could positively or adversely affect the capacity or willingness of companies to invest in the UK or the relative attractiveness of the UK market as an investment location in relation to overseas markets.

We are seeking to recruit individuals who understand how the energy market operates and how energy companies from across the sector make decisions within the UK and global energy markets. The successful candidates will posses:

· Minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent

· Have a demonstrable track record/ background in the UK energy market (minimum 5 years)

· Have a broad and solid commercial grounding/ understanding of the dynamics of the energy market. Ideally will have a transactional background/experience

· Strong leaderships skills

· Be a team player

· Be able to think strategically

· Have strong communication, influencing and networking skills

· Be intellectually curious and can apply existing knowledge and experience to solve new and novel problems.
