This is a 6-month contract opportunity.
Overview
Our Client is seeking a Technical Business Analyst.
Please note that for this role there will be some travel to field sites.
Role and Responsibilities
In this role you will be responsible for the support and development of initiatives related to IT hardware, network and telecom infrastructure solutions across our Client's field portfolio. You will understand a business need and elicit/define requirements and support the subject matter experts in translating those requirements into an appropriate solution.
This team is accountable for delivery of the infrastructure disciplines including Voice Telecom, Data Telecom, Desktop Infrastructure, Mobility Tools, and Hardware for field sites. This team acts as the primary interface to the various working groups in the company with respect to ensuring the IT business needs of our Client's field sites are satisfied. They also ensure that business requirements are communicated to partnering IT teams, and work with both parties and required vendors to ensure delivery of the most effective solution.
Some of the daily responsibilities of this person could include the following:
- Consultation with key business contacts and working with various IT teams and vendors to design, develop, and implement required field-based IT infrastructure and architecture aligned with business strategy and objectives.
- Support the development of the annual IT business plan and ongoing updates and reviews.
- Identify process improvements in IT activities to enhance client experience and reduce cost.
- Research and analyze business requirements to evaluate and recommend optimal solutions within the overall technology architecture.
- Collaborate with business leaders and IT professionals to assess viability of projects and initiatives.
- Follow project management methodology for all development initiatives: work in collaboration with the assigned project manager to document business requirements, define scope, assessing risk, cost and consistency with client strategic objectives in mind;
- Ensure new projects are compliant with approved IT architecture and design guidelines as well as operational processes. Provide ongoing review of in-progress activities against technology standards;
- Communicate project status
- Work effectively within the team, supporting the team in achieving unit objectives and providing client service;
- Support a work environment that promotes client services, quality, innovation, teamwork, and timely communication.
Qualifications
- Required Skills
- 5+ years of technical experience (ideally this will include counsel to internal clients in the area of field-based IT infrastructure)
- 5+ years of upstream oil and gas experience
- A University degree in Computer Science/Engineering or Technical Diploma/certification in a similar area
- Knowledge in all aspects of IT Infrastructure: network and telecom, mobile devices, desktop infrastructure, and other hardware utilized in a field-based setting
- Ability to conduct ongoing assessments of IT activities versus business strategy, influencing business and IT decisions as necessary to ensure infrastructure services meet business requirements
- Ability to work with IT management, vendors and internal clients to ensure new and existing IT infrastructure projects are prioritized against business objectives, requirements, and architecture
- Strong negotiation, analytical and influencing skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication and active listening skills
- Proven ability to work well with others in a rapidly changing environment
- A collaborative team player who is highly service oriented
- A strong attention-to-detail.
