Building Safety & Security Advisor

This role is to work for an established building consultancy, looking at new designs wrt physical safety and security and suggesting changes or improvements. Physical security describes security measures that are designed to deny unauthorized access to facilities, equipment and resources, and to protect personnel and property from damage or harm (such as espionage, theft, or terrorist attacks). Physical security involves the use of multiple layers of interdependent systems which include CCTV surveillance, security guards, protective barriers, Hostile vehicle mitigation, locks, access control protocols, and many other techniques. Examples might be placing bollards to prevent close vehicular access, ensuring tree canopies don't block CCTV, avoiding the creation of dark, shadowy areas etc. You need experience of performing threat and risk surveys to evaluate the terrorism and criminal threats to a location or in an organisation, of design of physical and electronic security procedures and systems, of being responsible for people associated with security and response procedures or of the set up, operation, and maintenance of security systems. As this is an unusual role, a range of backgrounds will be considered, such as chemical, biological and radiological protection or hostile vehicle mitigation design or design of Intruder Alarms, Digital CCTV, Access Control & Door Entry Systems.
