TITLE: BUILDING OPERATOR, 5 MONTH CONTRACT
Location: HALIFAX, NS

Position Overview:
Reporting to the Manager, Technical Services, the successful candidate will fill the temporary position of Building Operator in downtown Halifax. This position will last approximately 5 months. The primary responsibility of the Building Operator is to ensure that the building is being managed and maintained in a safe and environmentally responsible manner to the highest level of operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:
Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment as required by the Preventative Maintenance Program
Respond to tenant requests for temperature adjustments and perform associated troubleshooting of electronic (Siemens System 600) and pneumatic control systems
Review and monitor all building mechanical functions and/or provide direction to trades in maintaining first class standards of building operations and services.
Operate 560 and 800 ton centrifugal chillers during cooling season (typically early September through Mid-October)
Ensure prompt, courteous and efficient service delivery to building occupants when responding to service requests
Provide support to other staff members in their duties as required by the Property Manager or the Manager, Technical Services
Shifts will vary, typically between 7am-3pm and 10am-6pm, M-F except Holidays with exceptions as required/designated by superiors
Share after-hours emergency response duties with other operations personnel, typically on-call as primary emergency response person two weeks out of every eight. The on-call operator is required to respond immediately to emergency calls and if required, arrive at site within hour

Requirements:
Candidate must have 3-5 years experience in commercial property mechanical maintenance and operation
Experience troubleshooting, calibrating and maintaining pneumatic control systems would be a strong asset
Experience operating Direct Digital building control systems, such as the Siemens System 600, would be an asset
Excellent customer service skills with ability to partner with clients to meet client needs
Good verbal and written communication skills
Detail oriented, able to resolve problems using facts and sound reasoning
Self motivated, professional and flexible; able to work both independently and as part of a team
Clean, presentable personal appearance
Pride in workmanship and ownership of property
