Build Engineer Manager

- The Build engineer manager will work on enterprise scale Learning Management Platforms.
- Define, manage and oversee new developments and improvements to the build, installation and deployment processes.
- Define, manage and oversee build automation and continuous integration, deployments and data migration.
- Coordinate backlogs and tasks with product management, scrum teams and lead engineers.
- Manage the backlog, velocity and quality of a team of 10+ build engineers.
- Assume responsibility and work with infrastructure engineering on the 24*7 availability of tools and services, including Subversion, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Sonar, Fisheye/Crucible, Sonatype Nexus & Team City.
- Drive proof of concept developments for cloud based solutions with emerging technologies.
- Govern standards and practices with development engineering leads to ensure compatibility with build engineering best practices and common standards.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Essential:

- Ideal candidate would have 2-4 years of experience in similar technical management role.
- Experience in all practical elements of build engineering you have come from a technical background with a proven history of delivering proven build engineering solutions while leading a team of build engineers.

Version Control (ie Subversion, Git). - Administrative level experience in core build tooling and services (Subversion, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Sonar, Fisheye/Crucible, Sonatype Nexus, Team City)
- Proven ability to convert manual processes to automation, including testing and automated rollbacks.
- Strong Scripting skills, bash and/or PowerShell.
- Microsoft Development/Build technologies, ie ASP.NET (.Net 4.5 and VS 2012), SQL Server 2012, Visual Studio 2012, IIS 7/8, Windows Server 2012.
- Java Development/Build technologies (Maven)
- Experience with RESTful web services.
- Excellent communication skills, the drive to ensure the team succeed and the ability to manage teams across timezones while ensuring the delivery of quality results.

Desirable:

- M.Sc. in Computer Science or B.S. with equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of web application development.
- Deploying applications to AWS.
- Practical knowledge of Source Control Management, specifically branching, tagging and merging of different code streams.
- Exposure to the educational software environment and familiarity with industry standards and specifications.
- Experience of agile development processes an advantage.

Experience of the education/eLearning sector an advantage.
