Job Description
Our existing team of Broadcast Engineers provide support to the BBC and commercial broadcasters around the world.
Working shifts in a busy broadcast Master Control Room, you will ensure the successful transfer of live and recorded broadcast material between BBC sites and other broadcasters, both in the UK and internationally. Through an understanding of programme maker's requirements, you will adapt and process broadcast feeds to meet their needs.
As well as operational duties, the MCR team also undertake remote support of a wide range of technologies including satellite teleports, fibre network, SDH network as well as video and audio over IP systems in addition to traditional SDI video and audio systems.
You will be accountable to the local Supervisory Engineer for operational activities as well as periodic maintenance, alignment and modification on a wide range of electronic equipment. You will be required to work to the highest level of technical complexity under programme and/or operational pressures.
As we support live 24-hour broadcasting, you will be working in a shift pattern which will involve working at night and at weekends.
This role will be based in our West London operation within BBC Television Centre.
Job Requirements
- An experience broadcast engineer with relevant knowledge and experience of vision, sound, communications and computer systems as they relate to the Broadcast Communications environment.
- The ability to make critical assessment of television pictures, waveforms and sound, including Standard definition video, high definition video and Dolby audio.
- Normal colour vision and hearing.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise effectively with technical and non-technical customers.
