I am looking to hire a Boundary Protection Service Manager for one of my public sector client.

The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining the client interfaces to the Internet as well as Industry connections onto the Restricted LAN Interconnect. This is a high profile role and is an extremely busy desk officer role. Enforcing client policy with clear explanations of the decision making process for access through the gateways is essential. Some technical understanding is required, as this incumbent will act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for theses gateways and will be called upon to respond to customer enquiries from a technical aspect, calling on all resources to gain an understanding of the functionality.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES/OBJECTIVES OF THIS ROLE:
Make the most of all resources at your disposal (including your own time), looking for opportunities to reduce costs and achieve Value for Money for Defence.
Assist the client Lead Authority and Co-ordinator of all aspects of the in-service management of the DFTS Data Services, including the Enterprise Gateway Services (EGS) as and when required in the following

- Highlight any improvements that can be made to processes and procedures within the EGS business area.
-Identify and flag up any potential business issues as they appear eg Trends in customer enquiries

Planning and Management of the Financial resources required to support the DFTS EGS and SMI Data Services. In conjunction with the DFTS Private Finance Initiative (PFI) partner, continually enhance and develop the DFTS Data Services to meet user requirements.
Interface with the EGS service team to mitigate service risk.
Provide the SvcOps response to external requests for advice or assistance on the DFTS EGS and Data Services.

Liaise with the service provider and user community on all the DFTS EGS and SMI Data Services matters.
Ensure the integrity of the DFTS EGS and SMI Data Services is monitored and maintained in line with client Security Policy.
Maintain D JFC Cap approved capability roadmaps for EGS.SMi2 BAU service delivery

- Whitelist
- Assist in ordering Reverse Web Proxy Account, EGS Server Account Service and EGS RWP Virtual Account Service via SORF on Contract Central. Ordered by Authorized Demander
- Control of EGS Accounts - Weekly Service Report
- Respond to Web/Browsing and Email Issues
- Manage Encrypted List/Providing different methods to users
- Manage/Control Configuration Records
- Manage Main EGS Web Site in conjunction with the service provider
- Liased with BT and EHS team as when neededEngage with different Stakeholders
- Provide SME advice to stakeholders on the EGS and SMI 1 and 2
- Creation of Mail Domain
- Provide information on process regarding SMI1 and SMI 2
- Lock/Unlock EGS accounts
- Dealing with question on the Gateway, that cannot be answered by the dedicated support team Using all available resources.
- EGS Server Account orders for responsible users
- Certificates Issue
- Apply client Policy
- Engage with SAC as required in support of EGS day to day business.

Important skills the candidate should have:

- Understanding concepts of the EGS
- Assuring and maintaining integrity and security in accordance with the client Policy
- Use of departmental IT applications
- Be a team player
