Mechanical Engineer

As a Body & Protection Engineer your main responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to:

Be responsible for the creation and definition of technical solutions, including
* Hull structures and protection system integration at the system and sub-system levels,
* Requirements management and production of technical specifications,
* Management of all technical issues with customers and suppliers,
* System design and integration into vehicle platforms,
* Acceptance and verification testing of systems,
* Consideration of safety, risk, reliability and maintainability associated with the technical solution, in conjunction with subject matter experts

General Engineering Management Responsibilities:
* Support the Body and Protection Manager representing Combat Vehicles (UK) as Design Authority for the Hull structure and other sub systems.
* Provide engineering input to customer submissions including cost estimating and programme plans,
* Produce technical reports, meeting minutes and visit reports,
* Lead and/or attend design reviews and manage actions.

As a Body & Protection Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include:
Degree or HND qualified in a relevant Engineering discipline or equivelnt,
Significant drive and energy, strong systems and mechanical engineering skills, and the ability to deliver a diverse programme to demanding time, target cost and quality requirements are essential attributes to succeed.

Experience
* Project Management and engineering experience of complex engineering projects.
* Strong understanding of vehicle structures and systems and their development, including:
o Materials/Structural design
o Survivability requirements
o Design for Manufacture, cost, reliability and maintainability
o Welded and machining assemblies
o Definition of critical dimension
o Plates, Castings and Forgings
o Welded and Machining Assemblies
o Internal and External vehicle fitments
o Physical structures, brackets and mountings
* Practical application of Project Management techniques (eg scope definition, work breakdown structures, task costing and scheduling, risk management)
* Experience of requirements ownership and development, system level design, and flow-down of system level requirements to sub-system level
* Knowledge of system safety and experience of supporting the identification of system hazards
* Experience of the whole life cycle of vehicles including integration, test and evaluation through to acceptance
* Line management experience of engineering project teams
* Competent in the use of Microsoft based products
