Bioinformatics Research Scientist

Mid-sized South Bay based Pharmaceutical client is seeking to bring on a Bioinformatics Research Scientist to their team. This group is expanding into the Next Generation Sequencing space and is seeking talented individuals to insert their expertise and help bring the group up to speed as they begin this transitional project. Individuals who previously worked in a Research oriented environment and who are versed with a variety of Next Generation Sequencing technologies are encouraged to apply. The follow qualifications are necessary:

* MS in Bioinformatics, Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other Life Science Discipline (PhD prefered)
* Strong Biological background, specifically with regards to working with human data
* Ability to analyze large amounts of data, make sense of it and apply results to relevant projects
* Knowledge of human genetics is a plus
* Thorough understanding of the following programming languages: Perl, R, Python, and Java
* Experience working with Next Generation Sequencing platforms - Illumina Hi-SEQ, Mi-SEQ, SOLiD, Ion Torrent, etc.
* Prior experience working with databases is desireable
* Ability to work in a team as well as independently
* Excellent communication skills are a must
