RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contribute to the progression of preclinical research programs for the treatment of chronic inflammatory disorders of the lung and kidney
- Develop and perform in vitro assays to measure the affinity and potency of small molecules and biologics using recombinant cell systems, primary animal/human derived cells and whole blood
- Develop and perform cell based and biochemical assays to generate in-depth knowledge of mechanism and signal transduction pathways.
- Independently maintain working knowledge of and evaluate cutting edge technologies and platforms.
SKILLS:
- BS/MS in Pharmacology (highly preferred), biochemistry or a closely related field in the biomedical sciences.
- Drug discovery and quantitative pharmacology experience essential.
- Minimum of 2 years post-graduate hands-on' lab based experience of in vitro pharmacological/biochemical techniques is required (eg cell based functional assays to measure intracellular cAMP, intracellular calcium flux, radioligand receptor binding, cell based inflammatory mediator release assays).
- Experience gained in an industry setting (pharmaceutical/biotech) is highly preferred.
- Experienced in aseptic technique.
- Experience of working with human/animal whole blood and/or isolation of leukocytes from whole blood and measurement of physiological events by FACS or ELISA would be advantageous.
- Working knowledge of appropriate methods of data analysis, data acquisition and competency in data analysis software (eg Graphpad Prism) is required.
- Demonstrated ability to independently plan, execute, analyze and interpret experiments with emphasis on in vitro binding and cell based functional assays.
- Good communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, strong self-motivation and proven ability to work independently, as well as part of a team is required.
- Must have skills/knowledge/experience in the following: analytical equipment, analytical techniques, assay studies, and cell/tissue culture.
