TITLE - BIM CONSULTANT/BIM MANAGER

LOCATION - VICTORIA

JOB PURPOSE

BIM (Building Information Modelling) is the collaborative production, use and maintenance of data relating to the physical and functional characteristics of an asset; to ensure that decisions can be made using accurate, unambiguous and complete information.

The purpose of this role is to provide Embedded support to LU's capital programmes to enable projects to be procured and prosecuted in accordance with standardised processes for asset data production and delivery, and to ensure that their specific information requirements are delivered successfully.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Ensuring collaborative processes are performed in a consistent manner across the programme, identifying risk and acting upon non-compliance. Capturing, and articulating to suppliers, the programme's information requirements at each key decision point and ensuring their timely delivery. Ensuring suppliers, and their supply chain, have the capability and capacity to deliver the programme information requirements. Providing assurance to the Head of Profession that the required information will be handed over upon completion. Ensuring adequate enabling technology is available to both internal and external users within the programme. Supporting the BIM Programme.

DECISION MAKING

Influence over the appointment of suppliers, and their supply chain, based on their capability and capacity to deliver the programmes information requirements. Evaluating the proposed approach of suppliers, and their supply chain, during tender stage. Assessing the competence of individuals to produce/modify the required components of the information model. Validating and prioritising the programmes contractual information deliverables. Required to use initiative and good judgement when responding to emerging situations deciding and agreeing appropriate actions with programme management. Decides when it is necessary to contact senior LU managers/engineers regarding the discovery of urgent or serious issues.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & EXPERIENCE

- Degree and/or Higher National qualifications related to architecture, engineering or construction.
- Specialist knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and collaborative working processes (BS1192).
- Specialist knowledge of the collaborative processes defined in BS1192
- Working knowledge of Engineering Content Management Systems (ECMS), preferably Bentley Project Wise
- Working knowledge of data/information exchange protocols.
- Working knowledge of relevant British and ISO industry standards.
- Working knowledge of engineering contracts, preferably NEC3.
- Knowledge of IT and network infrastructure principles.
- Knowledge of risk management principles. Knowledge of London Underground's business, its obligations and priorities.

- Ability to directly and functionally manage Embedded multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to analyse complex data, draw conclusions, produce reports and make recommendations to senior management.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people at all levels across the organisation and externally.
- Ability to build effective working relationships, with people at all levels across the organisation and externally.

EXPERIENCE

- Experience of implementing and managing collaborative processes on large multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
- Experience of building relationships with, and influencing, a range of people at all levels within and outside the organisation.
- Experience of initiating and managing the change process within large organisations.
- Functional management of large numbers of multi-disciplinary engineers.
- Experience of providing professional and technical advice, guidance and support.
- Experience of carrying out technical document review and analysis.
- Experience of working in a construction or engineering environment.
- Preferred experience in underground railways.
