Big Data Infrastructure Engineer - 12 Month Contract - Hadoop, Nosql

Infrastructure Engineer with experienec of Big Data technologies including Hadoop is required to join Nomura's Global Engineering group; responsible for the engineering, design and integration of RDBMS technology. Provide subject matter expertise across data management technologies with focus on infrastructure automation. Provide project management for the deployment of infrastructure. Act as vendor interface and engineering support for applications and technologies provided and Nomura's strategic by vendors.

Role description:

-    Perform implementation, maintenance, remediation, and troubleshooting services for enterprise applications supporting trading and client services
-    Develop standards and deployment methodologies
-    Propose, design, and implement enhancements and additions to current environment
-    Develop infrastructure automation standards and procedures
-    Mentor fellow engineers on technical issues, standards and procedures
-    Assist in the growth and strategic planning across data management solutions
-    Assist in managing continuous improvement of engineering, delivery, and operational practices
-    Assist in developing engineering and operational service metrics with actionable plans to improve operational efficiency, enhance service quality/SLA, and optimize delivery
-    Engineering and implementation of Risk IT data management infrastructure

Key objectives critical to success:

-    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information systems, Computer Engineering
-    End-to-end understanding of systems development life cycle methodology
-    Demonstrates a strong understanding product life cycles as well as how technical systems work and interact
-    Strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of all critical Production Support processes

Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required

-    Engineering or administration experience of one of the following relational database technology (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL)
-    Implementation experience of Big Data technology; Hadoop, NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra, Couchbase) or caching technology (Gemfire,Memcached)
-    Demonstrable experience of working within a highly scalable system that rely heavily on Unix, Linux and open source technologies
-    In-depth understanding of Scripting languages (Powershell, Perl, python) providing infrastructure automation
-    Administration and support of Splunk
-    Operating system fundamentals including tuning and monitoring of IO, Networks, CPU and Memory

Successful candidates will be engaged under a contract for services by Resource Solutions.
