Big Data Engineer - Kontich - 6 Months + Extensions

On behalf of our prestigious client based in Kontich, we are looking for an experienced Big Data Engineer.
THE BIG DATA ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN ACTIVE CONTRIBUTION TO THE EXPANSION AND STRUCTURED MAPPING OF THE CUSTOMER DATA:
- You ensure that valuable data can be analysed and interpreted in a more structured way.
- You are responsible for supplying and clearing data (both internal and external data) for our data scientists.
- You consolidate the findings of our data scientists by building features, customer profiles, and machine learning models.
- You are responsible for delivering the results of these prediction models to our marketing automation tool.
The big data engineer will have the following profile:
- You preferably have a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or are equivalent to experience;
- You will work daily in Scala. You fall back on this programming language to use Spark as a Big Data processing tool. Foreknowledge of Scala is a plus, but knowledge of Java (or another object-oriented language) and/or Python are sufficient;
- You have SQL knowledge, but not up to advanced level: SQL on Big Data does not have the same functionalities as standard SQL;
- All infrastructure is hosted on AWS. It is not expected that you have an AWS certificate, but you should not be afraid to dive into the Amazon console yourself;
- In addition to Spark, our toolbox consists of Airflow, Nifi, Zeppelin, R. Of which you come into contact with Airflow and Nifi from Python and Java.
- You are a flexible person who is driven by continuous learning. Status quo is a word that is not in your dictionary;
- You are analytically strong and always looking for things that can be improved;
- You are curious and want to deepen yourself in everything that has to do with artificial intelligence, data visualization, machine learning and cloud technology. Knowledge of previous matters is, therefore, a big plus;
- You want to contribute to the solution of tomorrow: you search for new technology and help consolidate the progressive nature of our data platform;
- You are highly communicative and are able to translate difficult/technical matters to people who do not have a technical background.
The main technologies used by the client are Spark and Scala, you must be able to demonstrate at least 3 years of experience within this domain.
This is an English speaking project, however fluency in Dutch is considered an added value.
