DESCRIPTION:

With solid business growth and an ever-expanding team of experts, our financial client is growing its Amsterdam Data Services team by hiring a motivated Big Data Platform Engineer to fuel our strong ambition of becoming one of the most innovative and data-driven payment processing companies in the world.

As a platform engineer you will play a key role in the Data Services team running the big data infrastructure. Our big data platform is based on a Cloudera distribution, running on top of CentOS. You need to have experience in Linux administration and with big data technology, plus a good understanding of networking and security. Having experience putting distributed systems or high availability solutions into production, and experience with cloud platforms (AWS specifically) is a bonus. We've got a lot of other technology in place, but you can pick that up on the job or with training as required. We're growing fast and you will enjoy making stuff happen with colleagues from across the world.

REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelor or Master degree in ICT (or similar)
- Scripting skills (eg, Bash, Python)
- Working experience in administrating, securing and networking of Linux environments (preferably CentOS/RHEL)
- Experience with Hadoop distributions is required
- Experience putting distributed systems or high availability solutions into production required
- Experience with Kerberos and Windows AD integration is required
- DevOps experience with ElasticSearch/Kibana is required
- Experience with "Infrastructure as a code" approach and automation software (eg Ansible) is a bonus
- Experience with Cloud platforms (eg AWS, GCP, Azure) is a bonus
- Experience with monitoring systems (eg Splunk, Nagios) is a bonus
- A curious and critical mind with a pro-active learning attitude
- Good communication and social skills
- A collaborative team player
- Fluency in English
- Must already be working in Europe or able to under your own support
