Big Data Engineer

One of Europe's leading mobile advertising networks has an immediate need for a Big Data Engineer to join its head office in Madrid, Spain. Their main goal at the moment is maximizing user engagement and publisher-partner monetization. The Big Data Engineer will play an important role in building the platform which will make this possible.

The successful candidate for this role will have an interest in developing systems which will interact with millions of users daily. You will play a key part in the Research team from day one and will work closely with the company's product and design teams to define feature specifications. You will also work closely with operations and development teams to build and scale Back End services.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

- MSc in Computer Science or relawted technical/scientific discipline
- Strong understanding of the various aspects of running a large scale web site
- 3+ years' experience of software development, including:
- Knowledge of Design and Integration Programmes
- Experience with multithreaded architectures
- Hands on experience with high scalability systems
- Strong understanding of Big Data, MapReduce, Hadoop or similar technologies
- Experience with NoSQL databases.
- Strong, hands on experience with data-structures and algorithms

PREFERRED CANDIDATES WILL DEMONSTRATE:

- Experience working with AWS toolkits and infrastructure or other cloud providers
- Social Networks analysis (APIs, etc.)
- An awareness of profiling, recommendation systems and data mining techniques
- Experienced at using other Hadoop related tech including Mahout, Pig and Hive
- Java or Node.js experience
- Knowledge of Redmine, Jira or similar
- The ability to work in a growing team of engineers in a start up environment

This role is offering a competitive salary and would consider hiring someone on a freelance or fixed term contract basis.
