BIG DATA DEVELOPER

On behalf of our client, a leading bank in Zürich, we are looking for a BIG DATA DEVELOPER with strong technical knowledge of JAVA, SCALA or PYTHON. For this contract position based in Zurich in Switzerland our client is looking for an English speaking candidate who can start as soon as possible.

ROLE:

- Engineering of data pipelines (primarily batch, increasingly intra-day/near-Real Time)
- Integration and evaluation of new big data and data science technologies
- Development of platform components
- Consultation to application groups on how best to utilise the platform and technologies
- Engagement with groups for PoCs and full platform on-boarding

SKILLS:

- Strong programming background in Scala, Java or Python
- Strong command line and Scripting experience in a Linux environment
- A strong sense of ownership and initiative
- Excellent problem solving and multi-tasking ability
- Experience with relational DBs as well as NoSQL/NewSQL options like HBase & Cassandra
- Exposure to Python data science ecosystem, eg Jupyter
- Good understanding of issues inherent to distributed/clustered systems
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
- Excellent problem solving and multi-tasking ability
- A strong sense of ownership and initiative
- Experience with Spark, HDFS, Hive, and the Hadoop ecosystem (ideally with exposure to Cloudera CDH/EDH)
