Our Client is looking to appoint an experienced, SECURITY CLEARED Bid Manager.

The role of the Bid Manager is to manage a team to deliver high quality, winning bids, typically within the Defence and National Security sectors for contracts ranging between £1M to and £20M. The role involves leading all day-to-day aspects of a bid. Bid managers are involved in every aspect of the submission and have an excellent appreciation of what the client needs and how best to articulate how their organisation can provide that. As a driven and self motivated Bid Manager you will have an engineering background, experience in either the defence or national security domain and will enjoy the challenge and variety of working for a high tech company. Bids will typically be complex and will involve managing a bid team of 10+ people as well as a number of partners/sub-contractors.

TASKS:

- Effectively manage and motivate the bid team throughout the whole bid life cycle following the company's bid process. The bid team will typically include 10 key individuals and up to 10 supplementary members.
- Take responsibility for early assembly of the bid team, communication of the bid process, response structure and allocation of responsibilities and timescales to allow the overall proposal to be consolidated, in line with the documented bid process, ahead of submission.
- Drive the bid strategy and ability to meet the win price to maximise our chances of winning.
- Maintain a good understanding of the customer's requirements, our proposition and their evolution/development during the bidding phase.
- Create partnering strategies and manage and negoiate with partners and sub-contractors throughout the bid.
- Communicate effectively will all stakeholders including members of the bid team,transversal departments, senior management team at Roke, customers, suppliers and bid partners.
- Delegate work amongst members of the Bid Team and ensure that the allocated tasks are monitored and completed by the individual responsible.
- Present bid material to a potentially large (and at times challenging) audience
- Write proposal documents in a customer focused manner, emphasising win themes and key messages.
- Resolve or escalate issues arising during any bid under management.
- Take responsibility for the quality and consistency of the proposal documents.
- Facilitate the appropriate number of reviews to ensure that the commercial and technical proposition being bid is in accordance to the bid strategy and processes being followed.

QUALIFICATIONS the candidate should have: BA, BSC, BEng or higher degree qualification in business or technical subject.

EXPERIENCE the candidate should have:

- Track record of personally leading complex and technical bids with contract values typically between £1M and £20M in a competitive environment
- Experience of managing large (+£5M) complex bids as prime contractor in the defence or national security domains.
- Demonstrable experience in leading a successful multi-disciplined team
- Ability to produce reports, written documentation and proposals to a high standard
- Good commercial acumen and experience on all commercial aspects on bids icluding managing partners (Heads of Agreements, Teaming Agreements, RFQ), TCs, IPR, commercial contingencies etc.
- Experience of using the Shipley process
