BI SQL DBA/Developer - Southampton - £40k To £50k

This role would be perfect for someone with experience in Business Intelligence and Database Administration and provides an opportunity for someone to move into a more BI focused role with a prestigious, household name based inSouthampton.

The primary purpose of the DBA/Developer (Business Intelligence - BI) is to design, develop, administer and support data, data systems and databases in the IT Team, and provide ETL development skills to move data to and from databases and warehouses.

The DBA/Developer (BI) will contribute to the design and development of BI/warehouses and data modelling as directed by the IT BI and Data Manager. As required, the DBA/Developer (BI) will also be called upon to administer other databases across the IT landscape, or consult on other databases/projects.

The DBA/Developer (BI) will monitor, administer and tune the databases and database servers, and consult on the DB and Server architecture used to provide BI solutions. The role also provides support, consultancy and implementation skills to the ETL and OLAP warehouse layers, in line with the technical strategy for data warehouses - which is a Microsoft approach using SQL Server Integration and Analysis Services.

We appreciate there is no such thing as an ideal candidate but the closer to the following the better:

Expert in:

- Microsoft SQL Server database environments
- Microsoft SQL Server database administration
- Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)

Proficient/well practiced in:

- Microsoft T-SQL
- Understanding relational database design principles. Creation and administration of normalised databases
- Understanding de-normalised data design principles. Creation and administration of de-normalised databases
- Data modelling techniques and methodologies
- Use of Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) to develop multi dimensional OLAP structures
- SQL database performance tuning
- The creation of detailed, clear, unambiguous and succinct documentation that is fit for purpose and audience.
- Verbal communication skills to enable effective working with internal team members, peers, management and suppliers at all levels
