BI Solution Architect (Microstrategy)

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide technical leadership during the course of the project defining the roadmap and path forward
- Define the BI solution technical architecture vision and ensure alignment with the business goals and any technical risks are clearly defined and understood by the Business, Project Management and IT leadership.
- Develop the BI roadmap architecture deliverable (current state, future state, and supporting document with justification, benefits, pros/cons, etc. of the architecture and recommendations).
- Document, communicate, and present the architecture and supporting recommendations.
- Articulate changes to current environment that will be required as a result of the required analytics capabilities as defined within a given project.
- Responsible for conducting technical interviews and workshops to: Define architectural principles, constraints, and assumptions; Current state reviews of supporting databases, data sources, data flows, and technologies and how these fit within the current architecture; Develop and design the future state conceptual architecture and the technical requirements to support BI and analytics requirements and capabilities as defined within a given project
- Provide advice and guidance on data approaches and solutions as well as methodology as it pertains to updating and enhancing the existing BI architecture
- Execute required high level technical analysis on the products, systems, data sources, databases, interfaces and other supporting technical components, products and solutions
- Map BI and analytics requirements to technology capabilities to enable them (systems, data, supporting technologies)

SKILLS

Must have a minimum of 3-5 years' experience as a BI Solution Architect, including experience with databases, data dictionaries, and data flow models/diagrams; experience with MicroStrategy, Tableau, Aster, DataStage and Hadoop; and experience with functional analysis and architecture modelling methods, including business process modelling and logical data modelling. Ability to translate business and customer needs into logical system requirements and supporting models is required. Must have strong client-facing skills - assertiveness, excellent communication skills and leadership ability. Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills in an enterprise environment are a must. Strong MicroStrategy architect experience needed. Strong communication skills, strong SQL skills, hands-on development experience, and Teradata knowledge are all essential. Must have a good understanding of a programming language & ETL.
