BI Platform Engineer in TX

Location: Plano, TX

6 Month Contract

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field of study is required. Master's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field of study is preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of information technology experience is required.
Minimum of two years hands-on experience with at least three of following technical disciplines is required.

BI Applications (Cognos, Oracle, MS SQL Server)
ETL Technology (Data Stage, Oracle ELT, IBM Datastage, Informatica)
Data warehouse design, implementation, performance tuning and maintenance including EDW and/or Data Marts
Database design, information modelling, data architecture
Minimum of 3 years of experience in database administration including platform sizing and data performance analysis is required.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical leadership role is required along with the following skills:
The ability to work collaboratively across diverse groups of business and technical stakeholders
Experience and knowledge of BI best practices
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Job Summary/Description: 

Works as a team member on engagements and may take the lead on very small projects with well defined parameters. Makes decisions on operating procedures, analytical approaches, and work-flow. Works in a collaborative effort with others to conceptualize the implementation phases of the total systems solutions. May establish parameters for configuration, testing, and debugging. Provides hardware/software/process consulting services to customers including identifying needs, developing, influencing, and implementing proposals. Writes appropriate and accurate documentation for deliverables of projects, engagements, white papers, and marketing documentation. 8-10 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Customer facing experience. Broad understanding of systems integration practices. Undergraduate degree and 4-6 years relevant experience or Graduate degree and 2-4 years relevant experience.

Maintaining an inventory IT asset information
Tracking the life cycle of IT assets and forecasting what assets need to added, removed, refreshed or changed
Completing an annual IT architecture review and risk assessment
Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures
Ensuring effective and current system documentation
Establishing system benchmarks and thresholds for acceptable performance
Ensuring that the platform is properly monitored and that all availability and disaster recover obligations are being met
Working with vendors to ensure systems are appraised designed, sized and implemented according to best practices
