BI Data/Reporting Analyst

BI DATA/REPORTING ANALYST DALLAS, TX 6 MONTH CONTRACT

The candidates strong analytical experience and leadership skills in application Business Intelligence and Reporting will offer them the opportunity to be a key player on the clients BI/DW team. This individual will assess and deliver critical information to internal business teams and highly visible external clients.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Senior level SQL skills (5+ years)
- 2 years PL/SQL skills
- HIGH Level communication skills REQUIRED for this position; must be able to work with a wide range of users, managers, and executives
- High degree of initiative and ownership: will need to take a task and own it from inception to completion, bringing up critical issues
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum process
- Experience developing test scripts/procedures
- Experience executing test plans/planning
- Demonstrated ability to peruse data and derive business value
- Demonstrated ability to use data to troubleshoot business problems
- Demonstrated ability to identify, assess and troubleshoot data issues
- Recent BA/report writing role in a DW/BI environment
- UNIX Scripting for tech position
- Strong knowledge of best practices in the areas of layout, navigation, browser-compatibility, usability and accessibility
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Thorough knowledge and skills, writing Business Requirements, preparing General and Critical Design Documents, Reporting Requirements and Test Plans
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with Business Analysts, ETL developers and QA team
- Consistency to provide regular feedback to management regarding the status of team processes, workflow, issues and progress

DESIRED:

- Experience writing reports in PL/SQL
- Previous expertise working with ETL and BI tools/applications
- Experience creating reports and performing analysis using a dimensional model (Star Schema)
- Experience developing reports/dashboards with MicroStrategy
- 2 + years experience defining, designing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions utilizing MicroStrategy (8 and above)
- Comprehensive knowledge of the MicroStrategy tool suite (I-Server, Architect, Desktop, Web, Narrowcast, OLAP Services and Report Services)
