Batch Scheduling Engineer (CA Workload Automation - Autosys, Tivoli Wo

Our clients, a well-established Global IT Outsourcing Organisation, are currently seeking an experienced BATCH SCHEDULING ENGINEER to on a contract basis. Initially the contract will be 6 MONTHS in duration and will be based at their busy site in Newcastle.

DUE TO THE CONFIDENTIALITY OF OUR CLIENTS WORK WITHIN THE DEFENCE/PUBLIC SECTOR, THE ROLE REQUIRES THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT TO HOLD GOVERNMENT SECURITY CLEARANCE OR BE WILL AND ABLE TO UNDERGO THE VETTING PROCESS TO ACHIEVE THIS.

This position is to support the batch processing for one of the clients UK Public Sector customers. This involves providing support across both the midrange and Mainframe environments and involves extensive liaison with project and application management teams. In the midrange environment the batch is implemented using both the CA Autosys and TWS products. OPC is used in the Mainframe scheduling environment.

The role involves all of the following:- -

Responding to day to day requirements to keep the batch running (via Incident, Move, Add, Change requests)

Investigating problems with batch failures and improving, continuously, monitoring of the batch.

Implementing and testing new batch requirements and rolling out to production. This involves close liaison with application teams and responding to their needs

The Batch Scheduling engineers are expected to liaise closely with their colleagues who provide administration of the Batch Scheduling toolsets and cooperate and coordinate with them on programs to migrate the batch to the preferred toolsets.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The person will be responsible for the support of the Batch Processing for a UK Public Sector Client

The person will comply with the established procedures and standards for quality management, incident management, problem management and change control.

The person will act as an operational point of contact for the account.

The person shall be accurate and consistent in booking all time spent supporting accounts in a timely manner and in accordance with HP deadlines.

The person shall provide advice to the accounts as regards modifications, additions and enhancements to the batch.

The person shall provide input to any request to assess the impact of additional non-standard services requested by an account using their experience and client specific knowledge.

The person will be responsible for following through the requests put forward for Move/Add/Change requests.

The person will submit and make sure all change management procedures are adhered to.

The person will provide reports on progress to management as required.

The person will join the call-out rota as determined by the Team Manager.

The person will carry out any day to day checks which are part of the normal duties of the Scheduling team.

The person must be able and willing to work unsocial hours in the evenings and/or at weekends when a particular scheduled change is required. A substantial amount of work on Production environments falls into this category

JOB SKILLS

Demonstrated ability to manage the batch for one or more large customers.

Knowledge in the following areas:- - CA Workload Automation (AutoSys)
- Tivoli Workload Scheduler
- TWS for zOS ( OPC ) (for Mainframe environment)
- Operating Systems:- Unix, Linux, AIX, Solaris, Windows Server including 2003 & 2008. IBM Mainframe zOS
- Networking:- TCP/IP, Network diagnostics, Internetworking/configuration.
- Languages:- Unix Shell Scripting, VB, SQL, PERL & Java.
