Banking Compliance & Ethics Monitoring Consultant - Brussels

Background:
My client is a Brussels based international bank which has a team responsible for Compliance and Ethics issues. Compliance is a key part in the bank's policy, helping to protect the integrity and enhance the reputation of the bank's good name in the market. They now wish to strengthen the team with the hiring of a Compliance and Ethics Monitoring Consultant.

Tasks:

Help ensure business owners are aware of their compliance duties and implement the adequate controls to mitigate the underlying risks;

Execute and maintain a robust, risk-based monitoring and testing program ( Review

Assist in the implementation and improvement of the Compliance

Support investigations and/or risk assessments to be performed as needed.

Support the team lead for the LICA (Legal Internal Control Accountability) methodology as it evolves, including helping to maintain tactical tools and the LICA (Lotus Notes-based) database;

Provide input for the reports and key control recommendations for presentation to the group's regulators and senior governance bodies (Group Risk Committee/Management Committee/Audit Committee);

Oversee development and implementation of corrective action plans for resolution of identified control weaknesses;

Lead/contribute to group-wide compliance initiatives and projects.

Essential Skills/Experience Extensive Compliance experience,

8 years+ of relevant work experience;

An understanding of banking operations, in particular settlement and clearing will be a plus;

some experience using Lotus Notes databases;

the role would suit someone from a Legal or Compliance or Auditing/Financial Control background;

English plus any (even a little) French or Dutch will be useful.
