Bank Staff - Escort Custody Officer, Zero Hours

We are looking for a flexible individual that is available to work on a Zero hours contract. To carry out the role of Escort Custody Officer (ECO) within the base environment providing safe systems of security and decency of young people. ECOs are multi-skilled in all areas of the operation and will be required to conduct all duties when and where required; this includes carrying out Inter Secure Establishment and Court Movements, Bed Watches and responding to ad-hoc emergency situations. Main responsibilities include: Check vehicles on a daily basis to ensure cleanliness, maintenance and effectiveness of security operations. Accurately record data on the remote vehicle ICT (SERS) system Pick up young people at courts/secure establishments/police stations and transport to and from secure establishments/courts. Carry out inter secure establishment transfers. Transport young people to periodic courts and man the court in accordance with Serco procedures. Follow security procedures to ensure young people do not escape. Ensure the safe custody of young people`s property both in transit and at periodic courts. Produce young people before periodic courts at the request of the court clerk. Provide robust and accurate data to receiving authority regarding the young person in both written and verbal forms. Participate in contingency exercises on a regular basis. Observe and monitor young peoples moods and behaviours, making accurate records Respond to the changing needs of young people in a variety of environments, court, vehicle, secure establishment, police station etc. Share information as and when required in line with protocol. Undertake static and dynamic risk assessments, ensuring all relevant parties are informed of changes. Work as part of a team. Follow standard operating procedures and organisational policies. Be responsible for safeguarding and protecting children and young people in your care and understand processes for passing on any concerns. Ability to work flexibly, covering weekends and evenings.

Essential Skills Essential Skills Qualifications and Training:

The role requires a great deal of experience in dealing with children and young people in a dynamic and fast moving secure environment.

All ECOs will undergo a comprehensive residential initial 3 week Training Course and have a responsibility to remain in date with all aspects of mandatory training and attend courses to ensure continuous professional development.

A residential training course for this role will commence during the first week in March 2013.
