Balance of Plant Engineer

A Renewable Energy Operator is looking for a Balance of Plant (BOP) Engineer to work in the Grimsby area for a 3 months contract starting ASAP (before the end of February at the latest). The core task is to assist in all the related offshore inspections for the monopile and transition piece and report outcomes.

The Balance of Plant Engineer (BOP) will carry out Final Inspections of the Monopile and Transition pieces prior to turbine installation with the construction team. The Engineer will work with team to understand and develop the foundation maintenance requirements. The BOP engineer will play an assisting role in forthcoming maintenance trials on shore and offshore.

Responsibilities:

1) Work with the Construction team during offshore inspection procedures of the monopile and transition pieces and report results
2) Assist in the development of the O&M maintenance strategy for foundations
3) Review and report the current methodology for inspection of the monopile and transition pieces for future use during operation
4) Develop a clear understanding the current snags/issues for the foundations (MP/TP) and record these. Identify any future engineering process issues for the foundations (eg confined space access)
5) Identify and report any non-conformance with existing procedures and best practise
6) Monitor the corrective actions in place following inspections and report accordingly to ensure capture of learning points.
7) Deliver Lessons Learned from the project and executed tasks to build up best practise
8) Define the consumable spares required for this plant area

Required Experience:

5 years as Mechanical Engineer
2-3 years' experience of Wind Turbines.
Experience in wind turbine foundation maintenance.
2-3 years' in offshore construction projects, infrastructure projects or marine projects.
Experience of Construction sites in Europe.
Project Management experience.
Influencing and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships.
Prince 2 or similar.
A passion for Health and Safety and an extensive understanding of HSSE legislation and standards.
IOSH/NEBOSH qualification or equivalent.
