The Company

Robert Half Management Resources is currently recruiting for an Interim Purchasing Specialist to join an SME Automotive Engineering organisation in Birmingham for a period of 6 months.

The Role

Management Resources is urgently seeking an individual with a strategic automotive purchasing background and proven track record of applying these purchasing skills to deliver savings and business performance improvements in an SME engineering business. The role will involve working very closely with the Managing and Finance Directors. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate their ability to win buy-in and mentor the existing purchasing team to allow the methodologies used to be Embedded in the business by the end of the project. The applicant should be used to managing and setting KPIs and being judged and held accountable to them.

The objective of the project is to transform the supply chain of the organisation using proven methodologies in order to achieve the following...
- 15% cost down in the 6 months with plans laid down to achieve a further 15% cost down over the following 18 month
- 15% reduction in working capital in the 6 months
- Improvement in the risk management of suppliers and the supply chain
- Improvement in the quality and service level of suppliers to the business
- Improvement in the service level the business can achieve to its customers as impacted by the supply chain
- Lean supply chains using pull methods eg Kanban
- Provide supply chain input Make or Buy analysis
- Develop strategic relationships with suppliers, engaging their experience and design resources to work with lean manufacturing initiatives to reduce manufacturing cost whilst maintaining improving quality/performance and gain supplier input into new product development and product innovation.

This is not an opportunity for an operations manager/director with purchasing experience to apply for. In this instance, Management Resources will only consider career interim purchasing/supply chain professionals with experience driving through efficiencies in SME automotive engineering organisations.

Salary & Benefits

The role will pay up to £250 per day on a Ltd Company basis for a period of 6 months. There will also be a performance linked bonus. Applicants should ensure that their CVs detail as much experience relevant to the specification above prior to submission.
