Automation & Robotics Scientist, Biological Screening

Job Description:
The scientist will work in a laboratory to carry out experiments with automated systems in a team of focused on Phase 0/1 Insecticide Discovery. He/She will have extensive working knowledge of robotic and automated systems for compound identification, dilution, handling, application and storage. Practical experience is needed to develop assays and to maintain and debug automated applications. General laboratory maintenance, instrument troubleshooting and the ability to be a resource/technical expert on associated computer applications is a must. Applicants must have a strong desire to work within a team, to be creative, and to maintain positive relationships with team members and internal and external colleagues. The incumbent will also be required to prepare written reports on experimental procedures and results with occasional verbal presentations.

Qualifications
BS or MS in a life science/chemistry/pharmaceutical area with 5-10 years of experience in the use of automated solutions in robotic R&D. Must have proficiency in aspects of experimental design and data analysis, solid communication skills, and the ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary research team. Must be willing to perform routine work, on a daily basis, in a laboratory environment. Should be willing and able to handle insects, and chemicals of unknown toxicity, using established safety protocols. Occasional weekend work will be required. Must have excellent working knowledge of MS-Excel. Experience with liquid handling software and/or Visual Basic automation software and proficiency in the German language would be a plus. A background in entomology and agricultural insecticide use/applications are desirable but not essential.
