Audit Officer

Audit Officer required to work for our government client on a 3 month contract initially. The base location for this role with be in London but you will predominantly be travelling across the UK on client sites.

The Audit Officer will work independently but with weekly reports to the client, who will coordinate the overall work.

Visits will take place across the UK and as such you will have to be geographically flexible and able to travel for overnight stays (travel and accommodation will be funded). Every programme has different requirements in terms of rules and processes, therefore an appropriate schedule of visits will be agreed with individual Staff once they have been appointed.

The Audit Officer will verify the first level controllers assessment of expenditure on claims for each of the programmes, in particular staff cost, overheads, procurement and publicity to ensure compliance. They will be able to accurately describe the methodology used by the Project Partner and identify any discrepancies.

Candidates must have experience of monitoring and audit of complex projects. In addition successful candidates will be expected to meet at least two of the following criteria:
1. Good knowledge of European funding especially rules around eligibility
2. Direct experience of European Territorial Cooperation
3. Financial audit experience - higher regard will be given to those with formal qualifications.
4. Detailed knowledge of European procurement in the context of ERDF
