Audio/Navigation Engineer 36716

A well-known and leading Automotive OEM require an Engineer to work on Audio/Navigation systems. You will be responsible for developing specifications for Audio/Navigations product on their vehicles. £26 p/h basic rate, plus £39 p/h overtime.

*Mission and Main Objectives*

Development of electrical and electronic systems to automotive standards meeting all Cost Quality and Design objectives

*Main Tasks & Responsibilities*

- Development of specifications for Audio, Navigation and IT components to company design standards.
- To lead development of navigation head units and collaborate with all company functions to secure product launch.
- Coordinate specification development with teams internationally.
- Managing Tier 1 suppliers delivering products to Cost Quality and Design targets
- Managing in-house and supplier validation.
- Work with test and customer orientated engineering teams to resolve concerns.
- Collaboration with the purchasing team to support sourcing and cost optimisation.
- Life time product management.

*Background & Experience*

- Coming from an Automotive electronics development industry, or similar (aerospace, telecommunications etc) you will also have the following education and experience:
- Degree qualified in a related subject essential
- Understanding and experience of Navigation or Audio Head unit system development.

Relevant experience in automotive electrical and electronic development, completing a minimum of one previous vehicle development.
- Experience of managing Tier 1 suppliers in the development of a complex electronic product.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a cross cultural and cross functional team.
- Understand electrical & RF and basic acoustic theory.
- Software and hardware development experience.
- Self motivating, Self-managing, Pro-active.
- Flexible approach to business travel.
- Fluent English verbal and written language skills essential

- Bachelor's Degree

Additionally the following knowledge or experience is highly beneficial:

- CAN
- Development of plastic `A` surface parts.
- Display technology.
- HMI factors and design.
- Understanding of perceived quality.
- C++software.
- Understanding of electronic mass production techniques and processes.
- Working with & developing suppliers in leading cost countries.
- Full European/UK driver's license essential
