ASSOCIATE SCIENTIST - VACCINES/LEIDEN, NETHERLANDS/8 MONTHS CONTRACT/UP TO 50 EUR (PER HOUR)

JOHNSON & JOHNSON IS AN AMERICAN MULTINATIONAL MEDICAL DEVICES, PHARMACEUTICAL AND CONSUMER PACKAGED GOODS MANUFACTURER FOUNDED IN 1886.

The viral vaccine group is working on the discovery and early development of vaccines for viral infectious diseases. The working process includes in vitro vaccine discovery, evaluation, and generation, followed by in vivo evaluation of these vaccine candidates.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As an associate scientist you will report to one of the scientists within the pre-clinical department.

You will perform the serological assays (ELISA and Virus Neutralization Assays) or cellular assays (ELISPOT, Intracellular Cytokine Staining by Flow cytometry) following Good Research Practices, and report the data to the research scientist.

You will also manage external studies at contract research organizations (CROs), monitoring performance and managing sample logistics and study results.

QUALIFICATIONS

* HLO/BSc/MSc with relevant experience in serological assays (ELISA/Virus Neutralization assays) and/or cellular assays (ICS, ELISPOT)

* Experience with animal models is a plus

* Experience working in a pharma/biotech is a plus

COMPETENCES:

The candidate is a team player, quality minded, flexible and accurate. Excellent communications skills and pro-active mindset are required for working in a team (under time pressure) and for managing studies at external sites.
