SUMMARY:

- In this role, you will have the opportunity to be involved in the commercialization of confectionery products from product design to production in the plant.
- You will be exposed to the various phases of product design such as flavor screenings, laboratory prototype development, scale-up validation, and packaging development.
- You will have the opportunity to work with Process Development, Regulatory, Production and Quality colleges in the development and documentation for new products, as well as exploring ways to improve the efficiency of current products.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Making lab made prototypes for internal or external testing
- Managing the stability program
- Conducting sensory testing round tables
- Collecting plant data during trials and analyze results
- Keeping the lab inventories up to date, and the lab in hygienic condition
- Developing lab Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and training videos
- Performing lab analytical tests,
- The Sr. Scientist will work with plant engineering, marketing, supply chain and external manufacturers to develop products or processes and bring them to commercialization.
- Develop new products from the concept phase including the sourcing of ingredients, the development of formulations, making lab scale prototypes, determining shelf life, and running plant trials.
- Scale up and commercialize new product development initiatives needed to drive growth, productivity and quality for the NA region through partnership with process, engineering and packaging development.
- Initiate, design and interpret research on assigned projects.
- Correlate and interpret results and reach logical conclusions through the use of ingenuity and creative ideas.
- Apply knowledge of food science principles and ingredient functionality to develop halls business
- Communicate effectively with cross functional partners across the supply chain (production, engineering, business development, procurement) and confections business teams (marketing, finance, consumer science)
- Success in this role will require strong technical skills (process and product) and knowledge, strong influencing skills, and understanding confectionary manufacturing and product portfolio

SKILLS:

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Must have a University Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Solid technical and critical thinking skills
- High attention to accuracy and detail
- Ability to multi-task with strong prioritization and time management skills
- Highly motivated, determined and ambitious
- Ability to work in a cross functional team environment
- Flexible and adaptable

- 5-7 years experience with product development working with proven track record of successful product launches and product & process development technology in the Food Industry.
- Strong Process, Food Science and Food Chemistry knowledge within the manufacturing industry
- Technical expertise with ability to translate ideas into viable products or processes
- Planning and Prioritization
- Influencing skills through implementing project at commercial level
- Communication skills
- Drive for results, must hit the ground running and be technical and a leader.
- Seasoned product developer with experience with JDAs and spec systems.
- Must understand regulatory and quality as will be on weekly team meeting with regulatory and quality workers.
