ASSOCIATE SCIENTIST - MASS SPECTROMETRY/LEIDEN, NETHERLANDS/12 MONTHS CONTRACT/36 EUR (PER HOUR)

The Analytical Assay group is part of the Analytical Development (AD) group and is responsible for developing analytical methods that are employed for the analysis and biophysical characterization of virus based vaccines. Product analysis includes tests for quantity, potency, purity, and identity, but also detailed structural characterization of vaccines.

The Analytical Development group, which is part of the pharmaceutical and analytical department, has a pivotal role between the regulatory authorities, quality unit, and process development. In addition, the AD department supports other departments (formulation, Upstream and Downstream processing development) by routine sample analysis.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a motivated contractor who enjoys working in a multidisciplinary team. The main tasks will be hands on execution of complex mass spectrometry analysis, method development, and independent interpretation of complex data sets. Further responsibilities will be troubleshooting, planning of lab-related activities as well as writing of reports and oral presentations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A suitable candidate will have a masters' degree in a relevant field of analytical development or equivalent experience level. Hands on experience with biomolecular mass spectrometry in the field of protein characterization.

Experience with Thermo Fisher Scientific and/or Waters MS data interpretation software is highly desirable, as is experience in the field of glycomics. In addition, experience working in industry, GMP or at a ML-2+ laboratory or higher are considered advantageous.
