Associate Scientist

Perform mammalian cells transfections and expression of recombinant protein. Perform transfections and harvesting from few milliliters in high-throughput expressions, to tens of liters to supply the protein purification group.

- Responsible for expressing recombinant proteins in mammalian cells (primarily 293 and CHO) in endotoxin free conditions
- Maintain and expand mammalian cell cultures
- Will also perform routine cell-culture tests: cell culture viability, cell-counts, and expression yields using Octet instruments.
- Molecular biology experience (DNA amplification in E.Coli), or protein purification/characterization (SDS-PAGE, SEC), are a plus.
- Will be responsible for analysing data and maintaining accurate and detailed written records and notebooks.
- The candidate is also expected to have excellent time management skills, being able to adapt to rapid changes in projects priorities and meet aggressive timelines.
- The individual should enjoy working in a small group.
- Excellent communication skills are a must.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Molecular biology experience preferred.
- Experience with basic protein characterization techniques (PAGE, SEC).
- Preparation of recombinant DNA (MaxiPrep, GigaPrep, etc.)
- Culture of mammalian cells.
- Transient transfection.
- Stable cell-line development.
- Bachelor or Master degree in biology or biochemistry or a related discipline
- Work experience in the pharmaceutical industry or small biotech is highly desired.
- Basic understanding of the biotech industry needs in term of product quality and process-flow, and experience working with Biopharmaceutical products is a must.
- Extensive experience with mammalian cell-culturing techniques.
- Cell counting and cell culture viability measurements.
- Protein quantitation in condition media with Octet.
- Experience with FPLC and HPLC chromatographic systems, SDS-PAGE and analytical SEC, as well as Endotoxin testing and Western Blot are a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Pharmaceutical experience required.
