The Wang Laboratory at the University of California, San Francisco is seeking a research specialist to participate in our ongoing angiogenesis research, which spans developmental biology, cancer, vascular biology, and stem cell biology. Specifically, we are investigating the cell-signaling pathways, including those mediated by Notch and ephrinB2, responsible for angiogenesis. The laboratory is well equipped to perform state-of-the-art research on angiogenesis at the organismic, cellular, and molecular levels using sophisticated mouse genetics, cutting-edge imaging, and cell biology. These advanced technologies are coupled with preclinical studies, offering a great opportunity for translational research.

The successful candidate will perform scientific experiments necessary for this position, including animal experiments, imaging, cell biological, biochemical, and molecular biology techniques to support the research efforts of the lab and perform other duties as assigned. In addition, there will be an opportunity to pursue an independent research project. The incumbent will also be responsible for the following duties: grant application and manuscript preparation, including independent scientific writing and editing; facility management, including supplies, mouse colony, equipment, budgets, reimbursement, and book keeping; assist in recruitment and hiring of laboratory personnel, including orientation and personnel paper work; supervision of part-time lab assistants, and personnel records management; responsibility for maintaining and updating lab compliance with University protocols, including animal, environmental and health safety compliance with all IACUC and EH serve as the on-call emergency contact for the lab; literature and web searches; schedule Dr. Rong Wang's appointments, lab meetings, host seminar speakers, and organize seminars, symposiums, and retreats; carry on projects such as lab website construction and maintenance; and other duties as assigned by Dr. Wang.
