ASSISTANT SCIENTIST/LEIDEN, NETHERLANDS/11 MONTHS CONTRACT/20 TO 28 EUR (PER HOUR)

The Analytical Assay group is part of the Analytical Development (AD) group of Janssen Vaccines and is responsible for developing analytical methods that are employed for the analysis and biophysical characterization of virus based vaccines. Product analysis includes tests for quantity, potency, purity, and identity, but also detailed structural characterization of vaccines. The Analytical Development group, which is part of the pharmaceutical and analytical department, has a pivotal role between the regulatory authorities quality unit and process development. In addition, the AD department supports other departments (formulation, (Upstream and Downstream) process development) by routine sample analysis.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Within the Analytical Assays group, we are offering an opportunity for an Assistant Scientist. The position is to support the development of innovative analytical methods to characterise and investigate vaccine products as part of an international and multidisciplinary team. The assistant scientist will be responsible for non-standard laboratory testing of various process intermediates up to and including the drug product, by a range of analytical techniques. Additionally, the assistant scientist will assist in method development activities and continuous improvements projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The suitable candidate will have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Analytical chemistry or a related field with relevant working experience. Practical skills and knowledge of analytical techniques for biomolecule analysis are required. Experience in LC, CE, FFF-MALS, DLS, and AUC is preferred. Experience in working in industry, method development, GMP or at a ML-2+ laboratory or higher are considered advantageous.
