Assistant Risk Manager - Contract

My client, a leading bank, is currently recruiting for an assistant risk manager to join their team on an interim basis. This is a contract role that will initially run until the end of the year, but should be subject to an extension into 2016. The manager is looking to move quite quickly on this position and would be keen to make a decision in the next few weeks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES;

- Developing Retail Business Banking credit risk models (operational, Basel, impairment) or appropriate analytical solutions, using strong technical modelling and SAS/SQL skills.
- Ensure all Basel models are IRB compliant and approved via Retail and Group governance processes, to agreed timescales.
- Undertake ad-hoc analysis to assist with the development and evaluation of capital management strategies
- Communicating and working with business stakeholders to build appropriate plans and to deliver against those plans

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

- Strong SAS or SQL coding skills
- Good degree in a numerate subject, preferably at a postgraduate level, and preferably in a relevant subject (maths, statistics, operational research, economics)
- At least 5 years experience in the development of risk models in Retail or Commercial banking
- Good knowledge of modern risk management techniques within Retail banking and in the use of risk models within such an environment
- Experience in the extraction and manipulation of data to support risk model development
- Good communication (both written and verbal) skills
- A natural ability with numbers, with the ability to work quickly and accurately
