Assistant Project Manager required for our public sector client based in in Manchester.

JOB PURPOSE

The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for supporting the planning and operation functions by working alongside the Project Manager, successfully leading a portfolio of topics through 'scoping' by planning and coordinating the delivery of the scoping stage of the overall appraisal process, ensuring process is followed, ensuring both time and quality targets are met. In addition to their work on individual topics, they work alongside the Associate Director and Project Manager on varied projects and team-wide activities. They regularly review operational procedures, identify areas for improvement, and oversee the implementation of agreed changes.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

- Formal qualification in Project Management or evidence of practical experience
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills and a customer focussed approach. The ability to receive and communicate information confidently but sensitively, sometimes about complex, sensitive or contentious issues, with a range of audiences including healthcare professionals, patients and the public
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Self-motivated team player with a flexible and adaptable approach to working and able to work independently, unsupervised and to a high standard within tight deadlines
- Ability to synthesise/analyse complex information and/or large volumes of data and present it clearly and precisely, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to effectively co-ordinate and plan multiple projects with conflicting deadlines
- Ability to respond to stakeholder needs and identify appropriate service developments
- Confident negotiation skills, and the ability to deliver contentious information in a sensitive manner, sometimes in hostile situations
- Thorough attention to detail and high standards of accuracy
- Ability to work effectively and simultaneously across a range of operational areas
- Excellent standards of numeracy and literacy
- Knowledge of current developments in the NHS and public sector.

EXPERIENCE

- Relevant project management experience
- Proven operational involvement in the management of complex projects involving multidisciplinary teams
- Experience of co-ordinating and planning a range of ongoing tasks/projects
- Experience of the healthcare or voluntary sector
- Experience of database systems and management
- Experience of effective communication with both professional and lay audiences at all levels
- Experience of long term planning
- Budget management experience

- Ability to travel to the London office on a regular basis
