ASSISTANT PROCUREMENT MANAGER NEEDED FOR AN EXCITING PROJECT - 8 MONTHS

This job sit's within the centralised Group Finance & Resources Directorate, which includes the Financial Services, Health & Safety, Corporate Risk, Legal Services, Business Information, Procurement and IS departments.

THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE PROCUREMENT TEAM IS TO:

- Ensure value for money from the Group's annual £130m operational and £200m capital investment spend
- Minimise procurement related risk, particularly in compliance with Public Procurement legislation and the Group's corporate social responsibility strategy.

The job holder will work closely with the Group Buyer and Group Procurement Managers to deliver maximimum value for money across defined sub-categories of spend by applying good practice Category, Contract and Supplier Management techniques.

In collaboration with business stakeholders, they will develop an understanding of business needs that can be built into practical procurement strategies to deliver a lower cost base and more efficient and cost effective processes. The job holder will support the development of agreed purchasing standards within the policy framework.

You will also ensure full compliance with current legislation, particularly Public Procurement Legislation (EU Procurement) in their procurement activities, seeking advice and guidance as needed.

The job holder will ensure that health and safety and healthy working conditions are promoted within their area of responsibility and that staff understand their responsibilities for and fulfil their duties in accordance with the Group health and safety policies and procedures.

Provide procurement services for the Group by establishing fair contracts with suppliers and ensuring due process in procurement particularly compliance with Public Procurement legislation and corporate social responsibility strategy.

Contribute to the development and delivery of the Group's Procurement strategy and associated protocols to ensure the provision of high quality and cost effective services that meet customer needs and maximise value for money by applying whole life cycle costing.

Develop supplier and stakeholder relationships to identify and implement high value return on investment change initiatives, whilst optimising procurement processes and payment solutions.

Measure: Quality of contract relationships, value for money, efficiencies achieved, service standards met, feedback (managers and staff), budgetary management/variances
