Assistant Operations Manager

Assistant Operations Manager required for a leading Investment Management firm.

Purpose of your role

The Assistant Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring that all FAX, Money Market and Fixed Income Cash Bond trades are confirmed and instructed in a timely and accurate manner to the custodians. The role requires the individual to ensure that their market knowledge remains current to ensure that trade instructions remain in line with market standards to maximise STEP rates within the trade life cycle. The Assistant Manager will be expected to lead the daily operations and assist in ensuring all operational risks are minimised and customer service levels are adhered to. Another important part of the role will be leading/assisting in project initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

*To have functional oversight over the day to day activities of the FAX,Money Market and Fixed Income Operations team, monitoring trade capture, trade confirmations and settlement of monies, resolving exceptions and answering a range of queries from other teams in IA, Investment Management and external Brokers/Custodians.
*To ensure that all trades settled in accordance with internal procedures and external regulations.
*Timely escalation of any issues or exceptions
*To ensure that trade instructions are transmitted to Custodian Banks accurately & in a timely fashion to enable settlement on the contractual settlement date.
*To research and resolve failed trades and interest claims.
*To assist in various projects as required by participating in the successful development, testing & implementation.
*Responsibility for ensuring that trade work flow exception tools are managed and exceptions dealt with all trades across all asset groups.
*To continue and build upon key relationships with trading desks, legal counsels and broker relationship managers amongst others.

Qualifications and experience

*Good knowledge of at least one of the following products: Foreign Exchange, Money Market and Fixed Income cash bonds.
*Good understanding of Trade Matching platforms eg Swiftnet Accord
*Previous experience or working knowledge of the trade settlement life cycle
*Previous work experience in the Financial sector
*Understanding and knowledge of the investment management business
