Assistant Driller

JOB TITLE: ASSISTANT DRILLER

SALARY: £55,500+ p.a. + Benefits
LEVEL: Experienced

We have an urgent requirement for Assistant Drillers to join our busy North Sea Platform operations, both on live drilling and work-over type operations. We are looking for:

* Existing ADs with offshore exposure on similar installations or,
* Highly experienced land-rig drillers, looking to take their career offshore.

You will have:

* A sound technical knowledge of all appropriate processes and operations, and have proven experience with the equipment and tools
* Excellent communication skills
* Supervisory management skills with ability to direct and monitor personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations
* Health, safety and environment at the forefront of all your actions
* Valid well-control qualification would be beneficial

You will be required to:

* Mentor, coach, train, motivate and supervise the derrickman, pumpman and roughneck/floorhand. You will be involved in the ongoing training of staff to ensure that they are competent in their job performance. This will include the pre-tour meeting, and annual performance appraisals.
* Assist the driller in operating and maintaining the drilling and mud circulation equipment. You will perform daily checks, maintain accurate records and calculate ton-miles on the drilling line. You will also be responsible for interpreting the various gauges and meters associated with the drilling operations.
* You will provide assistance to the driller, but also relieve him when necessary at the driller's console.
* You will support the driller in an emergency situation, and be able to undertake well-killing operations.
* Assist in running and cementing casing strings, running and retrieving BOPs and risers, monitoring mud systems including solids control equipment and mud mixing operations and operating the top drive as directed by the Driller or Rig Superintendent.
* You will be highly safety conscious, and will assist in safety drills, safety training and call a time out whenever an unexpected hazard or deviation from the expected results is experienced.
