AS400 System Specialist
Senior, Consultant, AS400, System Specialist
The role
A Systems specialist will be expected to give guidance and support within the team, to other segments within BAI, and deal with escalations from any of our internal clients. There is a requirement for a great deal of communication in this role with internal customers and senior leadership and the ability to explain complex issues to business users.
They must plan and perform regular infrastructure maintenances, with strong risk assessment skills being essential. They will be expected to work on projects while continually working on improving existing solutions as well as the infrastructure as a whole. Other regular functions include performance analysis, customer implementation architecture and design architecture for new applications.
* Monitor and maintain infrastructures for all customers in EMEA and Asia, and work with vendors to resolve complex hardware/software issues.
* Take internal escalations.
* Mentoring and working as part of a close knit team.
* Demonstrate leadership in attitude and demeanor.
* Troubleshoot issues and work with internal customers to effectively resolve them
* Produce effective analysis on solutions.
* Be involved in pre-implementation and support of new applications.
* Works infrastructure tasks and tickets.
* Plans, implements, and supports infrastructure in GVA Data Centers including out-of-hours on-call support.
* Works closely with DBA and Operate teams
* Work with the Global counter-parts to create, implement and maintain best practices
* Execute regularly required maintenances for patches and upgrades, etc
Skills Required
* Extensive experience in System i Management under 6.1.1
* Extensive experience in System i Security.
* Extensive experience in SAN, ideally VMAX- from EMC.
* Extensive experience of hardware replication.
* Advanced knowledge of Robot Scheduler an asset.
* Advanced knowledge of Robot Scheduler an asset.
* Advanced knowledge of BRMS an asset.
* Advanced knowledge of VIOs on system i an asset.
* Advanced knowledge of Pentasafe an asset.
* Advanced knowledge of iASP an asset.
* Advanced knowledge of MQ Series messaging an asset.
* Advanced knowledge of NDM asset.
* Advanced knowledge of SFTP an asset.
* Advanced Knowledge of UNIX an asset.
