My client; a rapidly growing company with the ambitious objectives of faster, smaller, cheaper fusion energy is seeking a Applied Physicist or Electrical Engineer for a 6 month rolling contract. The successful candidate will have experience in Magnets and high temperate Superconductors.

The successful candidate will be responsible for technologies which are specific to existing particle accelerators, facilities and future projects. More specifically you will integrate the Magnets and Superconductors.

Responsibilities include - *Design, construction and measurements of superconducting and normal conducting
*Support to operation of the accelerators for magnets, magnet performance, devices (current leads).
*Development of associated technologies, namely superconductors, insulation and polymers, superconducting electrical devices and magnetic measurements for present and future accelerators.

The technical competencies required for this post are:

*Knowledge of superconducting materials;
*Design, processing and operation of stations for power tests: measurement techniques and laboratory activity, precision measurement electronics, data acquisition;
*Knowledge, manufacturing, follow-up and QA of production of SC strands and SC cables;
*Data reduction and modelling techniques for applied physics, with special accent to electromagnetic and thermal phenomena;
*Knowledge of thermodynamics

The experience required for this post is:

*Experience in applied superconductivity, LTS and HTS materials and their applications, and specifically in relation with magnet technology and power transmission cables.
*Electromechanical design and electromechanical construction. Some experience in simulation and analysis in the field of applied superconductivity.
*Experience in the field of cryogenic tests and measurements, involving superconductivity (materials and cables, magnets or other devices), data acquisition hardware and software.
*Knowledge of low temperature and high-field material properties.

Qualification required
Master's Degree in the field of applied physics or electrical engineering, or equivalent.
A PhD. in any of the above, and knowledge of applied superconductivity would be advantage.
