Applications Specialist

Background

Our Central Government client is currently recruiting for an Application Specialist to join them on a contract basis, to start ASAP until the end of December 2013 based in Worthing, to support delivery of IT Modernisation activity. The first element of this activity is delivery of a FAP and Windows 7 desktop upgrade. The new role of Applications Specialist will provide the expertise to manage and maintain all Agency applications in, and transitioning to, the live IT environment. The role holder will also act as a technical expert to resolve incidents and problems under an ITIL compliant problem management process. The successful candidate will therefore have good technical knowledge (preferably MCSE or MCITP with knowledge of Internet, Intranet web services, web and oracle apps and SAS) and a track record of building good working relationships, providing sound, evidence based advice and working collaboratively to solve IT problems.

Main Duties/Responsibilities
The successful candidate will. Ensure that all enterprise applications operate within agreed parameters. Establish that all IT services meet agreed Operational Acceptance Test criteria. Rigorously ensure that the change control process is adhered to ensure that IT services roadmaps are maintained. Ensure that product life cycle milestones are identified and escalated where required. Identify Single Points of Failure (SPOF). Participate in the Service Improvement life cycle. Liaise with third party suppliers on infrastructure services matters, in relation to application availability. Create monthly service performance reports. Provide technical leadership and guidance where required. Manage an Applications Analyst.

4. End to End technical services management (technical perspective)
5. Full life cycle service management (technical perspective)
